The Best Motorcycle Travel Accessories I Actually Use
Traveling by motorcycle—especially when flying to another country and renting a bike—requires a different approach to packing. Every item needs to earn its place in your luggage.
The best motorcycle travel accessories should be compact, versatile, reliable and easy to use. They should solve a real problem without adding unnecessary weight or taking up valuable packing space.
The products below are items I personally use for motorcycle trips, international travel and long-distance touring. From mounting a preprogrammed Garmin GPS on a rental motorcycle to keeping my passport and wallet trackable, each item makes traveling easier.

Garmin zūmo XT2, zūmo XT3 or Tread 2 GPS
A dedicated motorcycle GPS is one of the most useful items I bring on a fly-and-ride motorcycle trip.
The Garmin zūmo XT2, Garmin zūmo XT3 and Garmin Tread 2 are relatively easy to pack and can be temporarily installed on many rental motorcycles. This allows me to arrive with my routes, tracks and destinations already programmed instead of trying to build an entire trip on the side of the road.
A dedicated GPS is particularly valuable when riding in an unfamiliar country, traveling through areas with unreliable cellular coverage or following complicated custom routes.
Why I travel with a Garmin motorcycle GPS
Routes and tracks can be prepared before the trip
Easier to follow detailed motorcycle routes
Can be temporarily installed on many rental motorcycles
Built for motorcycle use and exposure to weather
Helps preserve phone battery
Useful where cellular coverage is limited
Easy to remove and pack when returning the motorcycle

The RAM Tough-Claw provides a convenient temporary mounting point. It can clamp onto many handlebars, crash bars and other suitable mounting surfaces without requiring a permanent bracket.

Tusk 35-Liter Dry Bags
The Tusk 35L Dry Bags are affordable, extremely durable and incredibly versatile.
They fold or roll down when empty, so they take up very little room in checked luggage. Once I reach the motorcycle, they can be used as waterproof luggage, strapped directly to the bike or placed inside hard or soft saddlebags as removable liners.
Using dry bags as saddlebag liners makes loading and unloading much easier. Instead of removing the motorcycle’s luggage, I can pull out the dry bags and carry them directly into the hotel.
The 35-liter size offers a useful balance between capacity and packability.
Why I recommend Tusk 35L Dry Bags
Affordable
Durable construction
Easy to pack when empty
Take up very little luggage space
Work as saddlebag liners
Compatible with many luggage configurations
Useful both on and off the motorcycle
Versatile 35-liter capacity

ROK Straps
I rarely take a motorcycle trip without ROK Straps.
They take up almost no room and make it possible to secure dry bags, jackets, camping equipment and other luggage to a motorcycle. They are available in several sizes and colors, making it easy to select the right strap for different loads.
Unlike basic bungee cords, ROK Straps combine adjustable webbing with an elastic section. This helps maintain tension while still allowing the strap to be tightened around the load.
Why ROK Straps belong in every motorcycle travel kit
Pack extremely small
Available in multiple sizes
Available in several colors
Adjustable for different loads
Useful for securing almost anything
Work with many motorcycles and luggage systems
Can serve as an emergency solution for loose gear

Portable Digital Luggage Scale
A portable luggage scale is one of the least expensive travel items I carry, but it has the potential to save a significant amount of money.
Motorcycle gear is heavy. A helmet, boots, protective clothing, tools and electronics can quickly push checked luggage beyond an airline’s weight limit. Discovering that at the check-in counter can result in expensive overweight-baggage fees.
A small digital scale allows me to weigh my bags before leaving home and again before heading to the airport for the return flight.
Why I carry a luggage scale
Helps avoid overweight-baggage fees
Small and lightweight
Inexpensive
Easy to use
Helpful when redistributing gear between bags
Particularly useful for international motorcycle trips

Anker Nano Travel Adapter
The Anker Nano Travel Adapter is an excellent solution for international travel.
It works with outlet types used across more than 200 countries and regions. It includes two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and an AC outlet that accepts a North American plug.
The adapter folds flat, packs easily and allows multiple devices to be connected at once. It is especially useful in hotel rooms with limited outlets.
Keep in mind that a travel plug adapter changes the physical plug connection; it is not a voltage converter. Always confirm that the devices connected to it support the local voltage.

The built-in seat-strap system attaches the pillow to a compatible airplane headrest. This helps prevent the pillow—and your head—from constantly shifting while you sleep.
Despite its supportive design, the pillow compresses into its included travel case for easier packing.

Final Thoughts
The best motorcycle travel gear is not necessarily the largest or most expensive. The most useful products are often the compact items that solve common problems without consuming much space.
A portable GPS mounting kit makes navigating on a rental motorcycle easier. Dry bags and ROK Straps provide flexible luggage options. A luggage scale can help prevent expensive airline fees. Compact charging accessories keep electronics working, while trackable travel documents and cards provide additional peace of mind.
These are the motorcycle travel accessories I rely on because they are practical, packable and useful on nearly every trip. I will continue updating this page as I test new equipment and find better ways to travel by motorcycle.
